It is with great sadness that the renal community mourns the tragic and untimely passing of Professor Donal O’Donoghue on the 3rd of January 2021. He was a cornerstone of the renal community, the Renal Association immediate Past President, Registrar of the RCP, great friend, colleague and a special person.
I do not need to tell you that Donal was a titan of UK Nephrology and medicine and an inspirational leader of our community, with over three decades of dedicated work focused on improving the care of patients with kidney disease.
We are sure you will wish to join us in offering your condolences, thoughts, prayers, care and support for his wife Marie and his 3 children and 4 grandchildren during these dark times.
The Renal Association have opened an electronic wall of remembrance. If you would like to add anything please follow the link below.
As a kidney community, we will look to join with the RCP to hold a joint memorial in the summer where we can all get together and celebrate his massive achievements and Donal’s great humanity.
With best wishes,
Dr Sharlene Greenwood
President of The British Renal Society
